For customers using signage or kiosks apps (for example, Matrix Booking Floor Plan or Welcome), there are certain situations where your device might redirect to the lock screen. This won’t happen with devices running an MDM product, either your own or the Matrix Booking MDM. The MDM product keeps Matrix Booking running at all times.
If you aren’t using an MDM, certain things can cause the devices to reboot overnight. Once the devices reboot, they will automatically boot up to how you have them set up. Often for security, this will be the lock screen, which is to prevent anyone turning the device off and back on again to get access to the device.
We recommend you keep the lock screen or use another security measure to keep your devices secure.
Things that can cause the device to reboot (normally these occur overnight):

Fluctuations or dips in the availability of power (including Power over Ethernet).

Power over ethernet (PoE) being provided by a switch that is running in economy mode, where it reduces power when it thinks it isn’t needed.

Too many devices on a single switch – some of the tablets hover at the higher end of what some switches can provide, so occasionally the switch may fail to provide enough power for the tablet to operate causing a reboot.
An MDM solution will normally prevent this type of behaviour. If you don’t have an MDM solution and would like to look into this option, contact your customer success manager .
