Unable to book a room that is managed by Microsoft 365

Problem / Question

  1. When trying to book a resource (room), I get an error message stating that this location is managed by Microsoft 365 and the booking owner isn’t a valid user for this location.

  2. I can’t book a room as it’s managed by Microsoft 365. What do I do?


You may have come across the following error message (the example user in this error message is Tom Simmonds):

Solution / Answer

The reason for this error message is because your organisation has our Microsoft 365 integration, but you’re not a user on your organisation’s Microsoft directory.

When a booking is made through Matrix Booking to a location managed by Microsoft 365, you (the booking owner) need to be a valid Microsoft 365 user. When making a booking, Matrix Booking places the booking directly into your calendar.

When Matrix Booking makes a call against a user’s calendar that doesn’t exist in Microsoft 365, you’ll get the error message above. Ask your IT team to make sure you’re added to the equivalent Microsoft directory for your organisation.
